Rasmus Hougard, CEO of Potential Project and author of “One Second Ahead” says, “Our thoughts are the foundation for everything we want to achieve in life. So, if you think you are poor, then that is your truth, if you think you are weak, then that is your truth.” So I ask, is what you are thinking and saying to yourself about yourself the truth that you want?
If what Rasmus is saying is true, then every thought you’ve ever had, whether you’ve noticed it or not, has shaped the person that you are and the circumstances that you find yourself in today. Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life, also believes in the power of our thoughts. She writes, “at this moment in time, you are merely a culmination of every thought that you’ve ever had.” Now that is a powerful thought! The good news, you can do something about it and this is where the superhero part comes in. It’s time to lasso your truth, by becoming aware of the thoughts you are having and changing them to build the truth and the life that you want.
Lasso Your Truth Practice
Byron Katie is an author and founder of a process called “The Work”. The Work came from her realization that, “When I believe my thoughts I suffer and when I don’t believe them, I don’t.” Here’s the basis for The Work that can help you find your truth. Take a thought that you’d like to change and ask yourself these questions about it:
-
- Is this thought true?
- Can you absolutely know that it’s true – what evidence exists?
- How do you react when you believe that thought?
- Who would you be without that thought?
Lasso that thought and turn it around. Write a new thought that you’d like to have instead. Put a positive twist on it – remove any negative words and don’t focus on the things that you don’t want – focus on the things you do want. Recognize that thoughts are innately temporary, like clouds, they come and they go. Focus your attention and energy on the thoughts and the reality that you want and your truth will prevail!
